Transportation

MIT has multiple shuttle services to get around campus, including the EZRide shuttle and SafeRide. 70 Amherst is also within walking distance from the Kendall MBTA station. Students can access shuttle services by presenting their MIT ID, and can purchase discounted MBTA passes from the Parking and Transportation office.

Groceries

Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, and H-Mart are among several grocery stores near 70 Amherst. MIT additionally provides shuttle service to Costco and Target on weekends during the academic year.

Printing

There are three printers in 70 Amherst – one black-and-white laser printer and one color printer located on the first floor, and another black-and-white laser printer located in the basement study (040). Check the Printing and Printers page for more details.

Laundry

There is a laundry room in the basement of 70 Amherst with front-loaded washing machines and dryers. Laundry costs $1.25 per wash and $1.25 per dry, and the machines accept TechCASH. Quarters are NOT accepted. Check the Laundry Room page for more details.

Internet and television

MIT wireless networks are accessible throughout 70 Amherst. Each room additionally has Ethernet ports if you need a wired internet connection. Cable television is available through the MIT IPTV service.

Garbage disposal

Please bag up your trash and recycling and place it in the large barrels found through the halls. Trash and recycling are removed by the housekeeping team every weekday morning and once over the weekends. For removal of large trash or recycling items, please email the house manager, Joe Graham.
